Sailing - the
sport with a challenge! |
Competitive
Radio Sailing involves racing model yachts controlled by a 2
channel radio. The yachts are equipped with a radio receiver
controlling the rudder and sails. The skippers stand on the
shore and control their yachts (sails, rudder, trimming) using
a radio transmitter. The yachts are driven forward only by the
wind - no engines are allowed.
The
club holds Scratch, Handicap and Match Racing events throughout
the year and normally race on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays
of the month, commencing at 11am (see Club
Calendar). Our
home venue is the beautiful Terrigal lagoon which is situated
100km north of Sydney.
If
you are not familiar with our club and your first contact with us is
online: We would be
pleased to hear from you!
In
brief, you should know the following about us:
our club was started in June of 1979 and we have been sailing 10 Raters
all this time.
The
club began sailing the
Soling 1
Meter class in 2004 and this has proved to
be very popular with
both new members and more experienced skippers.
More information is available
on these model yacht classes including descriptions, radio
gear, construction tips and where to obtain second hand boats.
